Worlds Update

Gary and Jordy made the trip overseas to the World Titles this year.  Both represented our club with great success.  Jordy placing 2nd in the 17-24 20" class and Gary 5th in the 45-49 Cruiser class.   Jordy missed making the top 4 on the cruiser in his semi after being forced up high in the 1st corner and a couple of riders ducking in under him.

Wyndham Jerseys

Ben has done a fabulous job with the jerseys, they have now arrived and i believe most have been collected.  They look awesome!!!!!  Will be great to see our riders out on the track.

Well after a lot of work this weekend, we now have an operational air-ram start gate.  We had some problems on Saturday but these were quickly fixed.  Gary and Jordy tested today and gave it the thumbs up!  We will refine over the next few weeks but we have now joined the bmx 21st century.

Wyndham Jerseys

Ben has done a fabulous job with this and the jerseys are on order now, hopefully they will be arriving soon and be distributed to all those that purchased them.

Wyndham Open Race Meeting

Our main open race meeting is fast approaching, We are still chasing sponsorship for the race meeting, if anyone has any ideas or leads please let me know ASAP.  We will be holding some working bees really soon to finish of some of the projects at the track, eg BBQ cover, 2nd Container and the AIR-RAM.  I hope that all members try their best to attend and not leave it to the usual few to do all the work.

Goldcross Cycles

Goldcross Ccyles in Hoppers Crossing who have been giving members discounts on all bike products have now stepped up their support of the club, they have now arranged for the donation to the club of a GT Speed Series BMX for us to raffle.  I have been in discussions with Jamie in regards to this donation and we are hopefully going to get a picture in the local paper, good advertising for them and us.  Once i have the bike i will be making some raffle tickets, similar to what we did for the Weerama festival, i am hoping that all members are able to sell tickets and we beat the amount we raised in February.

There is a race meeting in Wodonga this Sunday, it is VIC vs NSW,  we have some of our members attending this race, so good luck to them all

Wyndham Challenge

After having 22 entries on the day we ended up with 68 Entries, not fantastic but better than what we had at Friday night.  Those that attended today were treated to a brilliant day weather wise and a tack in great condition.  Racing was good today with very few crashes.

Special mentions for helping with running the event go to Di Lacy for her help during the week with BEM, Bryan Bull for running scoring/BEM today, 13yr old Tyson Stewart for doing the commentating today (except for his races).  All the club members, parents and friends for pitching in on the staging, canteen, Corner Marshals, Raffle and track maintenance.  A race cannot go ahead without volunteers and we greatly appreciate all those that helped with today's race.

Highlights of the day:-

David Cleary for the  fastest start even seen in BMX, the way he sling shotted (slungshot?) out, or was that around, the gate to be at the bottom of the start hill before the others had even travelled over the gate was awesome to watch!

Tom Sinmaa for winning 1 moto by sliding over the finish line after over jumping the last jump and crashing.  1st words after crash, did i still win?  That is dedication! :p

Working Bee

The working bee over the weekend has started to get the track back into a rideable state.  After a meeting with the council today, they are going to organise a contractor next week to finish resurface during the week and also be at the track to finish of any shaping that we require under our supervision.  As well as the contractor they will supply a roller for us on the Saturday to complete rolling the track.  We will have another working be on Saturday 2nd April  to use the roller and hopefully finish the track. Looking forward to see as many members there as possible.

27-02-11

Weerama

Well Weerama has been done and dusted for another year.  I believe we excited the crowd with our antics on the bikes, in way of jumps, manuals and monos.  We had a big group this year, with a couple of ring-ins, but the more the merrier.  This year we had a bike to raffle off also, i think this went down well with the crowd as we always had people buying tickets today and the members had also been selling tickets through work, family and friends.  When it came time to draw the raffle we had a large crowd waiting in anticipation of taking the DK Sentry home.  A very big thanks goes out the Evolution cycles who organised the bike for us and all members who sold tickets.  Jackie did a fabulous job in the tent organising the money and tickets while myself, Craig and Ed did the job of attracting people over to our stand.  We had a few people extremely interest in joining.

The winner of the major prize was Leanne Morgan, with Marlee Harrison and Marlee Porter winning the consolation prize of a set of grips each.

Track Working Bee

The water has resided and the track is badly damaged as you could imagine, we have organised for a bobcat this Saturday and desperately need poeple to help with repairing the track so we can ride on it.  Everyone that can help are urged to do so.

Fundraising raffle

I have printed the raffle tickets and have started distributing them to the members, we need to sell as many tickets as we can so we can pay for the track repairs we now desperately need.  We also need  volunteers to man a stand at the Werribee Plaza selling tickets this weekend.  I am hoping that we can have a stand there on Saturday and Sunday from 11-3, this will help increase our profile and hopefully sell a LOT of tickets.   Please contact me on 0414 678 364 if you can help.

5-02-11

Track Flooded

The storm has severely flooded the wetland and the track.  A working bee will be required to repair the track ready for our April17th race meeting, once it dries out and we can get to it!  Here is a link to photos that i took - Flood Photos

3-02-11

Fundraising Raffle

Evolution Cycles have donated a DK Sentry 20" bike for us to raffle off at Weerama, i will be printing tickets and making booklets of 10, tickets will be $2 each.  I am hoping that all members can sell some books, even just to neighbors.  I will be organizing some weekend time at Werribee Plaza to have a stand and sell tickets.  Volunteers will be needed to help man the stand so it does not fall on just a few people.

24-01-11

Working Bee 26/01/11

We have a bobcat coming to the track on Wednesday morning and will be having a working bee to improve the track, we hope to finish by 11:30 for those that have parties planned.  As well as track changes we need to cut the grass on the side of the track and jumps, so those with whipper snippers are more than welcome to bring them and help.  As usual the more hands we have there the better and easier the work is.

Committee Meeting 08/01/11

As most member will know I (Wayne) was elected as the new club president, it was a long hard battle, but eventually succumbed to everyone's begging and took on the job (ha ha!)

1 of my goals that is to increase our profile in the local community, we need to let the Werribee community know that we exist.

The Weerama Festival is a classic example of this.  We are in negotiations with Evolution Cyles for the donation of a bike that we can raffle.  We will be asking for members to sell raffle tickets, i am investigating having a stand at Werribee Plaza on the weekends leading up to the festival to sell tickets

Committee Meeting 08/01/11

A committee meeting will be held at the track Sat 08/01/11 at  9am to elect a new President and discuss up coming events, all are members are  welcome to attend.

Mike resigns as President

Letter received from Mike.

Hi all,

Whilst I have enjoyed my two years as president of the Wyndham Warriors BMX Club, the time has come for me to stand aside.  My situation has changed in the last few months, and I no longer have the time to spend running the club.  Added to this, my back injury has stopped me riding competitively and my kids no longer wish to compete.  This does not put me in the right position to lead the club.

I would like to thank the club committee and members for their support and friendship over these two years, and I will continue to be a member of the club.  Reflecting on the achievements;  seeing the shelter and ground works I helped  add to the club is satisfying, and the clubs performance in open meets and at state, national and world level makes me proud.  Winning the Interclub and being second the following year was indeed gratifying.

I wish the next president luck in moving the club forward, and hope the Wyndham Warriors will continue to grow.

Happy new year to you all.

Kind regards

Mike Lally

Victorian Open Titles

Well the Victorian titles have been run and completed.  We had 10 riders competing in the event, with 5 members winning state plates!  I will say CONGRATULATIONS to the Frankston club for putting an excellent race meeting on despite Mother Nature trying her best to put a dampener on it.  The amount of rain that was dump on the track overnight on Friday was frightening!! Surprisingly the track was solid and although a tad slower then when dry on Friday's practice session was excellent to race on.  Only problem that was encountered was the mesh on the gate, a few people spun their wheels and crashed out of the gate.  I heard someone mention that a strip of carpet on the gate when wet would help that, hopefully that person mentioned it to someone from the club.

Saturday night another HUGE amount of rain overnight and when we arrived the PRO section was under water!!!  They pumped it out and the Pro section was ridable straight away, i have no idea what they did to the track or how they did it but it worked!  They must be VERY happy!

Wyndham Open race 21st November

Well after mother nature was against us the week before, she certainly made up for it this weekend!  It was disappointing with how BMX Victoria handled the dynamite series and therefore the drop in numbers for our major open race but everything went great on the day and there was some very close racing.

The dedicated racers that did turn up had a track in awesome condition to race on, very hard, very fast and very smooth.

Thanks goes to all the volunteers on the day, Mick, Bridey and crew in the canteen, the home made hamburgers and pasta was excellent.  Di and Brian Lacy and Samantha Tucker in the scoring shed.  Ed for his 1st turn officiating and then, while everyone else was riding on the track, cleaning the toilets.   Karen Te Hiko for helping in staging.  Paul and Craig for managing the gate all day.  Gary for his ongoing track maintenance through the day.   Andrew and Trent for commentating all day, Andrew racing also, awesome effort.  Special mention must go to Jackie for the entertaining 3rd Turn marshalling, or should we say disappearances!!!

Reports back from all riders were good, everyone enjoyed the race and compliments were received on how smooth the race was run.

In AA pro Brock Tuckerman and Jordy put on an amazing show of riding ability with all 5 races giving the finish line judges a workout in deciding who won, they were that close!!

Highlight of the day must go to the 10yr old that jumped our 1st double out of the gate in 2 races!!!!  WOW!!!!

Photos are located here

Thanks go to all sponsors Werribee Nissan, BK Diesel, Apmlex Auto, United Equipment, Harvey Norman, MC Roofing who donated prize money or raffle prizes

Wyndham Open race in November

With the November open race coming up very fast, we need to do a lot of maintenance to the track and organize volunteers for the day.

This Wednesday night 6th Oct there will be a working be after practice to start getting things ready, there will be a BBQ included, we need as many members as possible to turn up, remember many hands make light work.

Frankston track impression by Gary

After a trip to Frankston on Sunday the track was in fair to good condition, the first straight seemed slow at around 38kms so I will change gears for the states to around 38/14. on the 20".

The first straight is fairly standard no need to jump as manualing should be quicker

Second straight is quite difficult probably hold back unless your on your game, they are all deep and all different, unless you can accurately jump and hit all the down slopes you have 2 choices manual the step and then 2x2 this leaves you with a odd one in the middle, or roll up the step and then manual 2x2 till the second corner.

Third straight is a bit disappointing, the two doubles are a metre too long for me so again I will probably just, you guessed it, manual them same with the next two triples.

The last straight you will need momentum off the last corner as your position will be hard to defend due to the basic jump configuration.

My overall opinion would be practice there if possible or maybe give Sunbury a go for the deep manuals the Frankston track is built around the second straight for the amateurs, the rest has nothing to be afraid of, if you have done your homework

25-09-10

Wyndham vs Sunbury Challenge

The challenge has been completed for this year.  With both clubs putting in a great effort there was less than 1 point in it at the end!!!  A big thanks goes to all volunteers who helped with the canteen, scoring, gates etc.  Congrats to the riders who competed and made this event so enjoyable!

The result, the lowest points wins, Sunbury 23.4 points - Wyndham 23 points, for the 4th year in a row Wyndham has taken out the challenge.  Each year Sunbury has gotten closer each time, so we will have to put in a solid effort next year to take the trophy home again!

New Agreement between Cyclesport Victoria and BMX Victoria

CycleSport Victoria and BMX Victoria come to a historic agreement

CycleSport Victoria and BMX Victoria are excited to jointly announce that a partnership agreement has been reached to begin the integration of CSV and BMXV.

Under the agreement BMX Victoria will remain an incorporated body with its Board being elected by its member clubs. Further, it will operate under the umbrella of CycleSport Victoria. The Board of BMXV will operate as a de facto Commission of CycleSport Victoria and act within the parameters set by CSV from time to time.

Other critical elements to the agreement include:

 CSV being recognised as the single cycling body by the Victorian Government.

 CSV and BMXV will hire a BMX administrator to work at the CSV offices in Darebin.

 CSV will administer the Victorian School Cycling Championship BMX Championships Finals (scheduled for September 26th in Geelong)

 Make reasonable efforts to lobby the Darebin City Council to include a BMX Supercross track in Metropolitan Melbourne.

 Both CSV and BMXV will be working together to lobby Cycling Australia and BMX Australia for a single integrated national cycling body.

Wayne Berryman President of BMX Victoria stated, "BMX Victoria is excited about the partnership we are entering with Cyclesport Victoria. The coming together of these associations will lead to a Victoria being Australia’s leading cycle state. This partnership will help develop the sport of BMX in Victoria at both the grass roots level and the elite level. We look forward to working closer with Cyclesport Victoria."

Glen Pearsall President of CycleSport Victoria echoed Berryman’s sentiment, "CycleSport Victoria is excited to be working closely with BMX and look forward to mutually working together to benefit all cyclists in Victoria."

Wyndham v Sunbury Interclub event

The challenge has been thrown down and dates of the battle have now been set in stone.

The call is going out far and wide for all the warriors to be ready to rumble with those members of the Sunbury club that aren't afraid!   There may be casualties on both sides but we must not show fear in the face of such adversity.

The stakes are high, with the the winning club holding bragging rights over the other for the next year!

We must dig deep and find the primal spirit that is in each of us to send these upstarts running home with their tales between there legs!  Forever regretting the day they ever challenged our supremacy!

First wave of attack will be a incursion into enemy territory at the Sunbury track on the 18th of September, we need numbers to hold back the tide of their home ground advantage (and fast riders!).

For the second wave we will have to uphold our honour at are battleground on the 25th of September, we cannot let anyone beat us when we have the advantage of local track knowledge and practice time

Council Track updates

Following last night’s discussions on the location of fences, gates and pedestrian entrance points, please see the below outcomes and advise if this is what was agreed upon;

The proposed new fence line. (As per attached aerial plan). Fence will sit inside or near swale drain and approx .5m – 1m away from gravel area. The fence line will be required distance away from the track. The fence line will also be made wider at the end of the first straight. Fence also needs to be located away from shared path near marshalling/start area.
The proposed location of the vehicle access gates. (As per attached aerial plan)
The proposed location of the pedestrian access points. (As per attached aerial plan)
Extension to start barriers – No longer required on school side due to new location of fence.
Extension to start barriers – Still required on the office/container side to prevent crossover near start area.

New Storage Container

After some negotiating and a lot of calling regarding transportation.  Mike, Paul, Gary, Jordy and Wayne went and collected the new container from the Greensborough RSL.  Meeting the truck driver there at 7:30am.  We managed to load it onto the truck and still get it under the 3.6m ramp to the upper car park (JUST!!!).  The truck driver definitely had some skill and an AWESOME truck!  Unloading the container at the track as close as possible.  We were able to maneuver the container into position using the V8 Grunt of Paul's AWD Adventurer.  We now have some real storage space.  WOOHOO!!!

Last Chance Race Meeting

To all BMXV Clubs,

Please find attached the entry form for the 'Last Chance race meeting' which is at Shepparton the weekend before the National Titles.
This is going to be a showcase for Victoria, and we intend to show BMXA and the other States and Territories how a major race meeting should be run (the National Titles during the week after the 'Last Chance' will be run entirely by BMXA and the City of Greater Shepparton with very little input from BMXV).

Please make available copies of the entry form for those of your Club members who do not have internet access.

We will be asking for volunteer officials from your Clubs to work at the meeting in all the usual positions, plus we have a need both at the Last Chance and at the National Titles, to provide track maintenance crew. People who volunteer to help out here will be doing a great job of waving the flag for Victoria and showing the National body and the other States and Territories how well we can run major meetings here.

Please distribute this in your Club newsletters, notice boards and websites.

Thank you

SH

Clubby

The first clubby of 2010 is only a week away; Saturday 13th Feb.  Registration is at 9:30, with racing kicking off at 10am.  Cost is $5 per head, and the morning will consist of 3 Motos (set by ability) and a relay with the aim of having fun.  We will put on a sausage sizzle after racing, and if anyone want to help cook, we'd appreciate it.

Working Bee

On Wednesday we will be conducting another working bee after training, again just an hour to fix up another straight followed by a BBQ.  This is a great way to get the track fixed over a few weeks, rather than everyone spending their whole weekend at the track.  Again everyone's participation is appreciated.

Weerama MTB Adventure Ride

The Wyndham Warriors have been asked to host a mountain bike event as a part of the Weerama celebrations to be held in March.  The course is planned to follow the Werribee river through Presidents park, and makes a lap of the lake.  Riders will be doing three laps, each of around 7km.  In all we will need around 10 volunteers to marshal the course, and another 4 to run a BBQ.  The BBQ will cater for both the ride and a skate park competition.

This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the club, as the proceeds from both the ride and the BBQ will go to the club.  We should also be able to raise awareness for the club and drive membership.

On the Sunday we will be taking part in the display with a stall where we plan to set up some start gates and again build awareness of the club.

As a part of our clubs fund raising efforts for 2010, we have been given a number of tickets to the Comedy Club, to sell to raise funds for our club. Please find flyer attached.

If anyone would like to go, tickets will be available shortly (over 18s only). Moreover, anyone who can help sell tickets to friends and colleagues please step forward.  I believe we should have 60 tickets to sell, but can request more (upto 400).  It would be a great effort if we can sell 100 between us, raising well needed funds for the club.

Subject: Fwd: Important information about licensing from BMX Australia

Hey,

We have finally got new BMXA membership forms, which have the new BMX logo on them, along with new terms and conditions. If you could let the respective clubs know that these are now available, I can send them out to them. I would ask if they have any of the old membership forms to use them first, then I can send them the new ones. The new membership forms is also available to download on the BMX Australia website. http://www.bmxaustralia.com.au/site/cycling/bmx/downloads/BMX%20Australia%20membership%20form%202010.pdf

Please also pass onto the clubs that riders will have the option to renew/ become a new member online in the next month or two. I am currently waiting to hear back about some information on it. Once it is up and running, this will make all of our jobs a lot easier.

Thank you for your assistance.

Vic Titles 2009

After a week of heavy rain, we arrived at Eastfield BMX club for Friday afternoon practice, to find the track in near perfect condition.  After setting up our tents, we headed out onto the track for test runs.  With over 1100 entries, the track was busy but smooth, fast and enjoyable.

Saturday race day was split into 2 groups, Spockets and Cruisers.  Sprockets is all the under 8 riders, and is a participation non competitive class.  Somehow the youngsters don't see this, and even the under 5s tried hard and rode immensely well.  Max Lees was the Wyndham entry in this class (7yo boys), and he rode extremely well readying himself for the competitive 8 boys class next year.  Cruiser is a 24" wheel BMX (as opposed to the standard 20" bikes), and is predominately dominated by mums and dads who ride with their kids.  Wyndham was well represented here with top 8 finishes from Jordan Morgan, Gary Morgan, Dave Gurkin and Wayne Danial.

Sunday was dedicated to the standard 20" wheel BMX, and with sprockets and cruisers out of the way on Saturday, there were still 700 riders set to race. The field was a very high standard, with top riders from all over the country coming in for the open event.  Again Wyndham was well represented with notable rides from James Tucker, Jesse Corbett , David Gurkin, Gary Morgan and Wayne Danial.  An honorable mention goes to Jordan Morgan, who for the first time raced in Elite Men, the top class in BMX racing.  Jordan made quarter finals, and think it is fair to say there are greater things to come from the talented Warrior.

In such a tough field, the Wyndham Warriors are very proud of all their riders achievements, and wish them luck for the 2010 season.

Mike, Gary and Jeff have been working in the background on some fundraising ideas.

We will be running the BBQ at Bunnings on Sunday 16th May 2010, we will obviously need volunteers for the day as the stand needs to be operated from 8:00am until 4:00pm.

Mike is working on a deal with the Comedy club where they will donate 60 tickets to a show, hopefully March 10th, where we then sell those tickets for a profit, we will be asking all members to try and sell some tickets and also show a presence at the show.

Gary and Jeff are working on a MTB race course to be held during Weerama, we will hopefully have a BBQ afterwards.  This will bring some more needed publicity to our club

Club memberships are due for renewal in January.  We will be forwarding the new forms, if they can be filled out in full so we can update all records for members and update our mailing lists.

Congratulations to all the Warriors who raced at Eastfield in the annual
interclub event.  Everyone pulled their weight and as a result the picture
below says it all.

WYNDHAM Warriors BMX club continues to punch above its weight on the state scene claiming the BMX Victoria Interclub Challenge at Eastfield BMX Club, Kilsyth last month.

To win the overall award, the small club needed to produce the most consistent results across all grades and against much larger clubs so when it came time for the announcement the final result was slightly unexpected.

“When we were first announced in the lead we stood dumbfounded,” president and competitor Mike Lally said.

“Then we cheered our hearts out.”

The BMX Victoria Interclub Challenge began in 1982, with 16 clubs from around the state competing and points awarded to each rider for their race positions added to their respective club tally.

The Wyndham Club took home the giant perpetual trophy that towers over some of the competitors who are as young as nine.

Lally noted the outstanding performance across all grades by Wyndham members left him unable to highlight a stand-out competitor.

“The points are then divided by the number of riders the club has entered, and at the end of the day, the club with the most points wins.

“In order to win, each and every rider must do well. I cannot say one rider performed outstandingly (from Wyndham), because each and every one of them did.”

It was the first time the Wyndham club has taken out the prestigious award in the club’s short history.

A highlight from the day was another first for the club, with a group of four riders making it through to the relay final which according to Lally is a “tough gig”.

“We were allowed four riders, one aged 8-12 (James Tucker), one 13-15 (Julian Lally), one 16 plus (Jordan Morgan) and one of any age (Dave Gurken).

“The larger clubs will field three pro riders and a 12-year-old who is not far off (going) pro.

“This gave our guys a tough run, with James really punching above his weight.”

The relay side finished sixth out of 14 teams, a fair effort according to the president. Club members now look towards the Open State Championships, which will be held later this month at the Eastfield track.

To all BMXV Club members

Successfully completing a CycleSkill course enables you to coach Sprocket and Novice riders.
It is also a requirement for those looking to go on to more advanced coaching levels.
Achieving the CycleSkill qualification involves a one day course, followed by successful completion of a workbook.
The courses were devised by Cycling Australia, the National body to which we are all affiliated and are run in Victoria
by CycleSport Victoria, the State Sporting Association for road and track cycle competition.
Below is the text of an email from Luke Mason of CycleSport Victoria, their coordinator for coaching courses,
regarding the next CycleSkill course which is being run in Melbourne on August 30th.

All interested in attending a course, or with enquiries about them, should contact Luke direct.

Just a quick update from today's race meeting...

First up, thanks to all who attended, raced, helped and officiated - your efforts are seriously appreciated and our club has come out looking very good because of it.  The guys on the gates, those on the berms, and most of all the ladies in the canteen; Thank You.

From all accounts, everybody have a great day racing.  The racing was very close and really good to watch; I'm sure it was more fun out there on the track.

The track itself was perfect, in large thanks to the working bees over the last two weekends, and with a little bit of help from last nights rain.  I have heard a lot of praise for our track today, for it's condition and also the design.  The three in particular I would like to pass on were, "This is the best presented track of the whole Northern Rivers Series", "I hope next years Aussies track is this good", and "the track is a perfect mix from flowing to technical - there's something for everybody".  We should all be very proud of what we have created.

As it has been all year, Wyndham riders are all competing high in their classes - it seems there is always a black and yellow shirts somewhere near the front.  Well done to you all.  Honourable mentions to Billy for completing his first ever open race meeting, it may have taken a little persuasion to get him on the gate, but his smile at the end of the day was priceless.  Brandon Te Hiko won every moto and his final for a clean sweep, proving yet again that he is one of the most talented 12 year olds in Victoria.  Dave Gurkin won all his motos and finished a close second in the 19+ 20"  Fraser rode well, also grabbing 2nd (19+cruiser).  Gary had some fantastic races in Vet Pro and the Masters Cup, battling Victoria's finest 30+ riders finishing a very close second in Vet Pro to someone 8 years his Junior and winning the Master Cup for the second year running.  Jordan looked great in the Pro field, particularly in the final.  Really though, it's all about the kids; James, Jack, Billy, William, Max, Jesse, Brandon and Julian all rode really well.  Julian pulled off a magnificent 4th 19+ 20", despite being 13.

Thanks to the efforts of the canteen ladies, we had an extremely successful day at the BBQ, not only keeping everybody fed and watered, but also having exactly the right amount of food and raising valuable funds for the club.  Thank you ladies.

The raffle was also a great success.  Thanks to those who sourced raffle prizes and help sell the tickets.  As we were expecting a decent size crowd we decided to purchase some prizes to help boast ticket sales.  Our profit was double what was spent on prizes.

Again, thanks you all and well done.

Cheers

Aussie National Championships Perth 2009

Congratulations to Gary for his couragous effort in not only getting to the final but in coming 4th in the 40-44 cruiser.
Considering he broke his wrist on the thursday due to  a bit  of a tangle  with me  (pete)  as we  were having  a
ride around Perth!
A big effort in itself but considering the amount of good riders who didnt even make it to the semis  -well done.
Jordy made the semi final only to come 5th just missing out on a finals berth. He came 18th overall in 17-24 men in a field of 101 riders great effort in possibly the toughest field.
Fraser TE HIKO came 29th in 45 + cruiser well done to qualify for the worlds
Brandon TE HIKO came  11th in12 boys in  a field of  89 another great effort.
Wayne Daniel finished 32nd to qualify him for the worlds
A bit on me (Pete) after a stupid fall -my fault , i will put the race on youtube soon so you can see how not to get over
a small double especially  how not to land  stiff legged.  The result being a broken hip which required 3 10cm titanium
screws now holding my hip together,
Grant will be jealous of the titanium!!!!
pete's crash        garys plate presentation

1-05-09

Track extremely tight, 3rd straight is extremely slow after the 2nd corner that is the tightest 180 degree corner I have ever seen.   90% of people are only pumping the jumps as very hard to get any speed.   The 2nd corner is carnage every final with riders just cutting in under each other and putting everyone over the corner.

Stadium very small, not enough seating to hold all the people we stood for 5 hrs today as there were no seats!!  Very disappointing!

Results from today’s racing:

Brandon 6th in the second semi, started from lane 8, just could not come from that far over and was boxed in by the other riders in the 1st corner.  He did catch up but was also blocked in the 2nd corner, just could not recover from there with the tight track.

Jordan 5th in his quarter, he had a descent start  but made a mistake with his manual on the step up at the end of the 1st straight, this put him mid pack exiting the 1st corner.  Again he started catching up but was also blocked in the 2nd corner by a crash in front of him.  He missed by about half a bike length of getting 4th after putting everything into the last straight.

Jordys bike service

Jordy is going to do some servicing from his garage to save up some extra cash and to help us with our bikes.

The service will cost, $10 per bike.

The service will cover the following.

*Checking over the whole bike for loose parts.

*Adjusting the brakes making sure the pad contact and allignment are correct.

*Tentioning the chain.

*Tru'ing the wheels if needed.

*lubricating chain and cable.

The service will take  about 30 minutes, and the price includes lube, so when u think of it its a small price to pay to have your bike running and sounding nice. If you were to have that done at any bike shop it would cost anywhere over $30 plus lube.

Email Jordy if you are interested.
